Pre/Co-requisite: MFT615 Families often identify one member and one member only who requires assessment, treatment and therapy for substance abuse/dependency. This course addresses the recovery process as a family system collaborative.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Recognize various efficacy models for assessment and treatment.
- Identify a process to accurately assess all family members.
- Recognize the impact of mental health issues and substance abuse/dependency on family systems.
- Develop a therapeutic response to familial substance abuse/dependency.
- Create a process of familial engagement.
