BU423 Sustainable Resource Management (3 cr.)


This course introduces the theories and concepts of sustainable resource management.  Global ecological, social, and economic environments and conditions in the 21st century are examined.  Sustainable resource management strategies implemented through socially responsible business practices are analyzed.  This course also explores the legal and ethical considerations associated with sustainable business practices.

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Describe the scope and significance of the various ecological, social, and economic challenges relevant in the 21st century.
  2. Explore the role and impact of corporate social responsibility practices in businesses practices in business strategy and operations.
  3. Analyze various sustainability leadership and management practices.
  4. Assess the sustainability strategies pertaining to various business functions including operations, marketing, financial management, and accounting.
  5. Articulate the legal and ethical considerations associated with sustainable business practices.
