HHSM410 Current Issues in Health: Research and Practice (3 cr.)
This course provides strategies needed to make informed decisions in the field of healthcare and human services. Emphasis is placed on gathering and evaluating research on one chosen critical global issue, and developing creative solutions to the topic. An issue chosen could be, but is not limited to, health disparities, aging, immigrant needs, and mental health.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Locate information and research focusing on a global critical issue, using relevant healthcare and human services databases.
- Evaluate literature for its quality, relevance, and application.
- Identify different research methodologies, including valid and reliable data collection and analysis for informed decision making in the health and human services sectors.
- Apply research findings in an evidence-based approach to solution development.
