E252 Contextual Analysis3 credit(s) This course examines the ways in which our understanding of literature has been shaped by the historical contexts in which texts are produced and by the literary constructs and conventions which have developed as a way to define those contexts. Through the reading of representative texts, the course will examine how elements outside of the text, including biographical, historical, cultural, and sociopolitical constructs, influence texts as well as the analysis of texts.
