EDU570 Professional Capstone and Portfolio (3 cr.)Prerequisite(s): All other licensing coursework
This course provides teacher education candidates with mentoring in a largely self-directed experience completing the Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA). The experience is designed to assist teacher education candidates in integrating their professional identity along program-based dimensions of theory and practice. Reflection and consolidation of personal understanding is accomplished through planning, instructing and engaging students, assessing student learning, and critical reflection of student learning and teaching. This course also addresses professionalism and continued professional development for teachers. Building the required Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA portfolio) is the culminating product for the first portion of the course. Following submission of the edTPA for evaluation the course will prepare teacher education candidates in preparing for professional positions. Consolidation and updating of their professional portfolio, considerations of employment, job search mechanics and interview skill development will all be addressed.
