SCA605 Information Technology in Supply Chain Analytics (3 cr.) This course teaches the fundamental information technology tools that affect supply chain management success in a data-driven environment. Learners explore how to achieve higher service levels, optimize inventory levels, and reduce costs and risk, while also considering data acquisition, governance, and ethics. Learners combine the study of end-to-end information flows from customer to supplier (with a focus on transforming raw data into actionable reporting) using common data engineering techniques and emerging technologies.
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Evaluate software systems and application programs used for logistics and supply chain activities.
- Implement design-thinking into technology decisions related to supply chain activities.
- Understand the role and application of information technology in managing and improving supply chain network flow.
- Consider how to implement professional management of master data in order to support a culture of ethical data stewardship.
- Communicate data using a variety of methods for various stakeholders.
