SCA615 Location and Distribution Strategy (3 cr.)

This course addresses the tools, knowledge, and techniques needed to manage and enhance the connections, movements, and processes in the supply chain network. Using a diverse range of data sets and machine learning techniques, learners study the geographic nature of logistics and transportation and apply contingency planning, business continuity, and risk management and resiliency topics to optimize the supply chain network.

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Build and apply geography-based models to study the logistics environment.
  2. Evaluate an organization’s supply chain network for a variety of logistics and distribution optimization opportunities.
  3. Analyze the larger context of economic and financial principles related to logistics, transportation, and distribution problems.
  4. Build effective simulations to optimize decision making using common models for distribution and analysis.
  5. Communicate opportunities and challenges facing an organization’s supply chain network and potential solutions.
