MPY600 Orientation to the Counseling and Psychological Services MA Program (0 cr.) This course provides students with an overview and introduction to the primary resources and skills necessary to be successful in the Counseling and Psychological Services MA Program. Students will be introduced to university resources including those available through the Library and Writing Center. Key academic research and writing skills will be reviewed, including an overview of American Psychological Association (APA) Style, which is required to be used in the program.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate knowledge of how to effectively utilize the university Library system and Writing Center resources to support academic study.
- Identify the essential program documents and resources that provide guidance throughout the program.
- Synthesize and incorporate peer reviewed research into writing and assignments.
- Apply academic writing skills and accurate APA style to writing and assignments.
