LASF605 Lasallian Education Experiential Learning 2 (3 cr.)


In this course, learners are introduced to the core principles of Lasallian pedagogy including distinct methods, the educational context, and teacher development. Consideration is given to the relevance and applicability of De La Salle’s gratuitous schools for the poor in late 17th and early 18th century France and today’s context. Students will be invited to apply the core principles to their own teaching context and identify similarities and differences.     

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Identify core principles of Lasallian pedagogy.
  2. Explain how Lasallian pedagogy is similar and distinct from other educational approaches.
  3. Apply Lasallian core principles to contemporary questions and educational contexts.
  4. Identify areas of growth in their own pedagogical practice.
  5. Articulate the congruence between Lasallian core principles and their own professional practice.
