EDD899 Comprehensive Examination (1 cr.)

Prerequisite(s): 45 or more credits in EDD program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and approval of the committee chair.
This course serves as a culminating assessment of doctoral coursework. The comprehensive examination requires students to integrate and apply knowledge from the core curriculum to analyze complex problems of practice within their area of specialization. Students demonstrate readiness for dissertation work through written and/or oral components that assess analytical thinking, theoretical integration, research application, and scholarly communication.

Upon successful completion of the examination, students are expected to be able to do the following:

1.  Display abilities to analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and apply knowledge.

2.  Display abilities to organize ideas and to communicate effectively both in writing and in speaking.

3. Display a breadth and depth of knowledge of leadership theories and strategies.

4. Display a breadth and depth of organizational culture and change theories and strategies.

5. Display abilities to research, write, and defend a meaningful doctoral dissertation.
