EDS789 The Teacher as Coach and Building Leader (3 cr.)

In this course, students will learn to think as a teacher leader: to incorporate not only modeling the skills of a master classroom teacher, but communicating and creating an atmosphere, an environment, and an attitude for learning and improvement for all teachers and all students.  

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Communicate with clarity the necessary skills, focus, and goals for success for students and educators within a school system. (PO 1,5,8)

2. Synthesize common teacher evaluation frameworks from a breadth of literature to discover and recognize ideas transferable to student achievement. (PO 1,2,3)

3. Design and create opportunities for teachers to document evidence of student learning and what it reveals about the effectiveness of instructional practices and their efforts to improve their teaching. (PO 4,6,7,8)
