Professional Seminar II is a capstone course that deepens students’ integrative framework in clinical psychology and Catholic intellectual thought. Students are presented with diverse cases to conceptualize according to program-wide competences and discipline-specific knowledge areas, with the use of bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework consistent with the Christian Catholic Meta-Model of the Human Person. Further professional socialization into clinical psychology is discussed, including employment opportunities, market trends, job search strategies, and professional identity. Attention is given to basic microskills and intermediate-level skills associated with evidence-based psychotherapy relationships needed for effective helping relationships through guided experiential learning exercises.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:

  1. Demonstrate helping skills needed to establish and maintain evidence-based psychotherapy relationships.
  2. Appraise professional identity in relation to professional development trajectory such as entry-level job opportunities, licensure, and market trends.
  3. Integrate clinical psychology with Catholic intellectual tradition through professional identity consolidation, clinical application, and career trajectory.
  4. Apply Christian-Catholic Meta Model of the human person to diverse case conceptualizations.
