Music Major, B.A.

The music major is a general liberal arts curriculum for the student with a strong interest in music who does not plan to pursue a performance career. The student may wish to continue their education in a specific master’s degree program or pursue a different career option. If the student is planning to complete both the B.A. in music and the M.A. in Instruction degree leading to teaching licensure, the B.A. in music electives must include all of the required music education course work. B. Performance Studies:


(11–14 credits)

  • Applied Lessons: minimum of seven semesters of private lessons taken for credit on a major instrument or voice.
  • Ensembles: minimum of seven semesters of participation in one or more vocal or instrumental ensembles.

D. Minimum of six music electives credits


  • May reflect individual interest and career goals.
