This track provides up-to-date knowledge and skills in the technology and application of computer security. Students will learn to apply risk management methods, and strategies; enhance the protection of enterprise-wide information assets; and detect and plan for cyber-attacks on networks and computer systems.
General Goals for Learning:
In addition to the computer science goals given above, students in the Cybersecurity track will be able to:
- Develop technology skills to Integrate secure network components through knowledge of the operation of hardware, transmission media and network access control devices.
- Perform a risk assessment to determine the extent that technology assets are exposed to risk.
- Conduct a security control testing plan that involves a vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing
- Implement the basics of evidence collection and documentation, investigative techniques, and digital forensics tools and procedures.
- Implement recovery strategies such as backup, recovery sites, multiple processing sites and fault tolerance.
