Pre/Co-requisite: MFT615 This course exposes students to diagnostic and unique treatment issues involved when working with clients with an eating disorder. Collaborative approaches to treating eating disorders with a family systems perspective are examined.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Apply knowledge of marriage and family therapy models to a population dealing with eating disorders (ED).
- Demonstrate the knowledge of diagnostic criteria related to ED diagnosis.
- Identify the social/cultural influences on clients diagnosed within an eating disorder.
- Develop creative treatment options at the time of intake, therapy, and recovery states of eating disorders treatment.
- Integrate their relationship with food and the role it plays in their own lives.
