Pre/Co-requisite: MFT615 This course introduces the principals and practices of art therapy as it may be used in a marriage and family therapy perspective with individuals, couples, and families. Various theoretical approaches and hands-on techniques are introduced. The emphasis in this course is placed on experiential techniques and processes of art therapy.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Apply theoretical approaches to art therapy practice.
- Apply techniques of art-making that may be used in psychotherapy with individuals, couples and families.
- Integrate one’s personal relationship to art-making components and themes.
