BU425 Networking for Business Professionals (3 cr.)


This course presents systematic approaches to interacting with business professionals for the purpose of building a network of business associates.  The development of networking skills needed for business professionals to market themselves and their organizations are examined.  Also examined is the use of networking as a means of assisting individuals or organizations in need of professional expertise.  This course emphasizes the implementation of networking technologies commonly used by business professionals and organization.

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Analyze the scope and purpose of networking in today’s business and employment environments.
  2. Assess the application of networking strategies to business and job search contexts.
  3. Evaluate contemporary networking technologies such as social media and web-based platforms.
  4. Develop a personal branding strategy.
  5. Create and implement a professional networking plan for the purpose of career development or employment.
