MG401 Principles of Management (3 cr.) This course explores the concepts and theories of management and their application in today’s managerial environment. It examines the essential functions of management: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Understand the levels and types of management.
- Understand the different managerial roles and skills.
- Discuss the important issues facing managers today, such as global competition, workforce diversity, ethics, quality, and change.
- Understand the importance of planning and decision-making.
- Understand significance of organizational structure and culture.
- Understand the essentials of control.
- Identify approaches for addressing performance issues, criticism, discipline, and stress.
