APSY410 Brain and Behavior (3 cr.)Prerequisite(s): APSY300 This course investigates brain structure and function and implications for cognitions, behaviors, and emotions. Topics include anatomical and physiological interpersonal differences, how treatments affect brain structure and function, available technology for studying the brain, and recovery from physical and emotional trauma.
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Explain the relationships between neural structure, electrical and chemical processes, and human behavior.
- Apply scientific method to evaluate publications about anatomy, physiology, and outcome.
- Evaluate evidence of biological basis for behavior, disorder, and treatment efficacy.
- Explain connections across systems and levels of neurological functioning.
