PY734 Practicum Extension (3 cr.) In this practicum/internship/field experience based course students focus on increasing their competencies within the counseling and psychology practice, building on their practicum/internship/field experience. This course is used for students needing a total of 9 credits in practicum, and will be taken either concurrently with PY710, PY711, or as an additional course as a non-degree seeking student.
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Apply professional perspectives regarding clinical issues to the practice of counseling psychology building upon existing and emerging competencies.
- Demonstrate ethical decision making in counseling practice.
- Integrate knowledge of psychological theories, assessment, research, and ethics into the practice of psychology.
- Integrate feedback from on-site supervision and seminar supervision into effective diagnosis, treatment interventions and therapeutic process.
- Demonstrate inclusivity and multicultural perspective with clients and colleagues.
