PY734 Practicum Extension (3 cr.)


In this practicum/internship/field experience based course students focus on increasing their competencies within the counseling and psychology practice, building on their practicum/internship/field experience. This course is used for students needing a total of 9 credits in practicum, and will be taken either concurrently with PY710, PY711, or as an additional course as a non-degree seeking student.

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Apply professional perspectives regarding clinical issues to the practice of counseling psychology building upon existing and emerging competencies.
  2. Demonstrate ethical decision making in counseling practice.
  3. Integrate knowledge of psychological theories, assessment, research, and ethics into the practice of psychology.
  4. Integrate feedback from on-site supervision and seminar supervision into effective diagnosis, treatment interventions and therapeutic process.
  5. Demonstrate inclusivity and multicultural perspective with clients and colleagues.
