The above special methods courses are designed to provide pre-service teachers with additional work on knowledge and skills addressed in the general methods courses. Additional experience is afforded for applying methods and teaching strategies particularly to the specific content domain in which the pre-service teacher is being certified.
This course addresses curriculum, skills, and knowledge needed to teach world languages and cultures K-12. Topics studied include, but are not limited to, national and state content standards, lesson and unit planning, best practices, and evaluation procedures. Classroom 1 management, effective teaching strategies, utilization of technology, diverse learners, and assessment to guide instruction are stressed.
