CST600 Identity of a Catholic School Educator (3 cr.) This course explores Catholic education and the role of the teacher in Catholic institutions of learning. The characteristics of Catholic education are examined. Also examined is the role of the teacher as leader and facilitator of inclusive and productive classroom learning communities. The course introduces students to a variety of educational concepts and administrative best practices which serve as frameworks for understanding the qualities of Catholic education and the significance of being a professional Catholic school educator.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Explain the characteristics and qualities of Catholic school education.
- Analyze the roles and responsibilities required of professional Catholic school educators.
- Explore the role of the faith in Catholic school education.
- Assess academic best-practices needed to ensure positive and inclusive classroom learning environments.
