CST605 Building an Inclusive Classroom Environment (3 cr.) This course explores the professional skills and educational practices required for fostering inclusive and productive classroom learning environments in Catholic schools. Students will explore and practice various skills and techniques for effective classroom management. Strategies for effective interpersonal communications will be examined. The course also explores the behaviors that contribute toward or detract from positive classroom learning environments.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate skills required to effectively lead a school classroom.
- Practice effective interpersonal communication skills required for establishing positive interactions with all school community members.
- Evaluate classroom behaviors which have the potential of contributing to or detracting from positive learning environments.
- Develop strategies for mitigating and resolving classroom behavioral issues.
- Explore policies and procedures which are relevant to building an inclusive classroom environment.
