CST610 Instruction and Assessment I (3 cr.)


This course emphasizes the application of foundational teaching skills, learning assessment practices, and academic lesson planning strategies in a Catholic school classroom. Teaching skills and techniques required for success as a Catholic school educator are addressed. Also addressed are best practices pertaining to the assessment of learning outcomes. The course examines lesson planning techniques required for the effective facilitation of positive learning communities in Catholic school classrooms.

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Evaluate various teaching techniques and strategies required for effective teaching.
  2. Explore best practices required for the assessment of academic learning outcomes.
  3. Demonstrate effective educational assessment techniques needed to accurately evaluate learning.
  4. Evaluate academic lesson plan strategies for implementation in classroom settings.
  5. Practice effective communications strategies needed for facilitating inclusive learning communities.
