PY606 Psychophysiology (3 cr.)Prerequisite(s): PY608 This course examines the basic anatomy of the nervous system, the normal physiological functions of the nervous systems, the biological bases of behavior, behavioral disorders, and brain diseases. The course reviews current research on the role of biological basis of behavior.
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:
- Describe the basic anatomy and physiology of the nervous system.
- Describe potential biological mechanisms of behavioral disorders and brain diseases based on an understanding of current research in the field.
- Apply current research in the analysis of psychological disorders.
- Evaluate reasons for diagnosis and treatment interventions.
- Describe the biological basis of selected psychological disorders.
