EDWN641 School District Operations and Leadership (3 cr.) In this course, students will engage in activities, discussions, assignments, and presentations that will provide perspectives and enhance the understanding of school district operations as they relate to culture, professional development, safety, efficiency, budgeting, school, and community relations as well as the political, social, and legal dimensions of leadership decision- making. The course will offer a critical examination of a wide range of topics central to educational administration, and their application to the field of educational administration.
Upon completion of the course, learners are expected to be able to do the following:

Understand how school programs reflect equitable needs and opportunities for each student.

Analyze equity data on a school or district.

Develop a curriculum development plan that includes structures and processes to support teaching and learning, including instructional and assessment components.

Develop a detailed budget in your certification area, supported by a written justification that includes rationale for areas of income and expenditure.

Produce a comprehensive service delivery model that includes educational and operational services for the appropriate certification area.

Address the direct and indirect consequences of an annual budget and its impact on stakeholders from development through accountability.

Identify legal issues inherent in daily school practice related to administrators, teachers, students, and parents.

Identify effective school-community relations that are student-centered.

Reflect upon and self-evaluate personal strengths and areas of growth regarding administrator dispositions.
