CLPY605 Human Development and Flourishing (3 cr.) This course provides an overview of developmental theories and research that cover the entire lifespan - conception to death, including transitions, strengths, and challenges that impact human growth, maturation, and flourishing. The course emphasizes moral and spiritual development models and research, integrated within a Catholic view of the human person.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:
- Compare and contrast different theories of individual development through the lifespan.
- Articulate the spectrum of human development across the lifespan from psychopathology to flourishing.
- Explain the effects of family, social, cultural, and structural factors upon human growth, maturation, and flourishing.
- Integrate moral and spiritual developmental models with Catholic anthropology and established constructs of human development.
