CLPY620 Evidence-Based Practice (3 cr.) In this course, students apply the American Psychological Association components of evidence-based practice to clinical practice, namely, best available research, clinical expertise, and patient culture and preferences. Students learn to understand and critically evaluate research and other scholarly works (e.g., primary sources, professional peer-reviewed articles). Students examine issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in psychological science and implications for clinical practice with diverse individuals, groups, and communities. Particular attention is given to developing evidence-based psychotherapy relationships with respect to human dignity and flourishing.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:
- Articulate the major components to evidence-based practice.
- Evaluate the psychological research related to therapy efficacy and evidence-based practice.
- Synthesize an understanding of evidence-based practice with evidence-based psychotherapy relationships.
- Interpret human behavior from multiple perspectives, including with respect to human dignity and strengths
