GM710 Global Business Ethics (3 cr.)


This course examines the interplay between cultural norms, ethical frameworks, and decision-making in global business contexts. Students engage with the tension between faith and reason, embracing the Lasallian Catholic approach of being open to truth from all sources. Through the study of various ethical frameworks and informed by Lasallian Catholic principles, students develop tools for navigating moral dilemmas which align with personal values and promote socially responsible business practices. Students travel to an international location for cultural experience and the application of course concepts. 

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following:

Asses the role of ethical decision making 

  1. Recognize personal biases and analyze competing lines of reasoning in relation to ethical decision-making. 
  2. Identify and resolve ethical dilemmas in international contexts, distinguishing between ethical concerns and legal compliance.
  3. Compare and contrast ethical theories in addressing issues such as bribery, human rights, and intellectual property rights. 
  4. Evaluate ethical relativism vs. absolutism in international settings.  
  5. Analyze socially responsible business practices through the lens of the Lasallian Catholic Tradition.
  6. Develop an ethical decision-making framework guided by Lasallian Catholic social teaching and international awareness.
