EDWN643 Director of Instruction Practicum (3 cr.) This course serves as the internship experience for the Director of Instruction candidate. It provides relevant background knowledge and field experience for candidates seeking the Wisconsin Department of Instruction Director of Instruction administrative license. The central focus of this practicum experience is the application of knowledge, skills, and processes that a Director of Instruction needs to acquire in order to effectively serve in the role. The practicum consists of a field service component and an online learning component with other practicum participants.
Upon completion of the course, learners are expected to be able to do the following:
- Understand the myriad roles of Director of Instruction through field-based experiences that require the application of knowledge and skills from previous coursework.
- Align their practice to the Eleven Wisconsin Administrator Standards.
- Use the broadened knowledge, conceptions, and practice of school leadership.
- Understand and articulate current dilemmas of practice and current trends in the field.
- Articulate personal needs that must be addressed to assure strong leadership.
- Develop the abilities to use problem solving, communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, and assessment in order to function as an effective educational leader.
