Music Industry: Music Business Track, B.A.

(42 credits)
Eric Heukeshoven, M.S., Program Director

The B.A. in Music Industry is designed to prepare students for ever-increasing career opportunities through hands on, real-world experiences that recognize the traditions of the liberal arts. Students in the Music Industry program share a common core of music courses that reflect the needs of musicians in today’s constantly evolving world of technology. All Music Industry students have full access to Studio ‘S’ – Saint Mary’s state-of-the-art recording and post-production facility. Students who earn their B.A. degree in four years have the best of both worlds – unparalleled access to a professional recording studio with a well-rounded liberal arts education.

The Music Business Track is geared towards students seeking careers centered around the practical aspects of today’s Music Industry professions. The Music Business Track includes relevant topics such as Music Business, Arts and Cultural Management, Principles of Marketing, and more.

Students in the Music Business Track have the distinct advantage to over 30 years of real-world connections provided through a network of nationally and internationally recognized Music Industry companies including Universal Music Group, Minnesota Public Radio, Elektra Asylum Records, Xi’an Radio & TV (China), Wenger Corporation, Hal Leonard Corporation, and many others.

For over 30 years, students who graduate from the Music Industry program have gone on to successful careers from operating their own recording studios to working for international music publishers … and everything in between.
