Program Description
The goal of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program is to prepare individuals with a comprehensive set of administrative skills required for business organization leaders. The program provides the financial, managerial, quantitative, legal, and operational skills required to work at a professional level in rapidly changing business environments in a variety of industries. The program also prepares individuals with the foundational business coursework required by many graduate business programs.
Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program are expected to be able to do the following:
- Examine business operation practices in a contemporary global economy.
- Apply financial principles to business decisions and projects.
- Analyze the economic forces that influence business operations.
- Demonstrate management and leadership skills required in contemporary business organizations.
- Develop marketing strategies required for business organizations.
- Apply business intelligence techniques for business operations and strategic decision-making.
- Interpret the legal perspectives and forces that impact contemporary business operations.
- Communicate effectively as a business professional.
- Work effectively with diverse populations in various business contexts, and explore the significance of culturally-responsive business practices.
- Analyze corporate social responsibility and ethical considerations which contemporary business operations need to consider.
- Develop strategies for learning new skills and updating knowledge needed to be an effective business leader.
Students who anticipate enrolling in a graduate program at Saint Mary’s University may take up to two graduate courses as part of the Business Administration program. The graduate course(s) may be applied toward both the Business Administration and graduate program requirements. The completion of graduate course(s) as part of the Business Administration program are subject to University policy.

Business Intelligence and Data Analytics
Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Specialization are expected to be able to do the following:
- Use Analytics tools and techniques to support common business decisions and processes.
- Analyze data in order to optimize business operations.
- Utilize software systems to support common business decisions and processes.
Marketing
Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Marketing Specialization are expected to be able to do the following:
- Examine consumer behavior theory.
- Select appropriate means of influencing target markets.
- Implement digital marketing strategies used by business organizations.
- Assess from an ethical perspective the impact on society of marketing and business initiatives.
Program Structure and Delivery
Most courses in the program are delivered in an accelerated format. All courses are delivered fully online. The Business, Management, and Communications core program courses are also delivered either on-ground or blended-delivery. Blended-delivery courses incorporate both on-ground and online activities. Courses specific to the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, and the Marketing specialization tracks, are delivered online only.
