CLPY700 Practicum Completion (0 cr.)

Prerequisite(s): CLPY 600  CLPY 605  CLPY 610  CLPY 615  CLPY 620  CLPY 625  CLPY 630  CLPY 635  CLPY 685  
This course is for students who have not completed the required 720 total hours and/or 280 direct client hours in CLPY685 Practicum, CLPY690 Internship I, or CLPY695 Internship II.  Within this on-going practicum or internship field placement, students continue to provide psychological services at an approved clinical site under the supervision of a credentialed site supervisor. Students continue to attend online synchronous weekly group instruction with credentialed program faculty. Students also work collaboratively with program faculty, the field placement director, and a site supervisor to develop a plan to attain the needed hours and to demonstrate the professional and program competences associated with clinical training.  This course can be taken a total of, but not to exceed, three times to complete the program field placement requirement of 720 total hours and/or 280 direct client hours.

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to do the following: 

  1. Integrate knowledge of counseling theories, assessment, research, and ethics into the practice of health service psychology.

  2. Elicit and integrate feedback from practicum site supervisor, practicum faculty, and peers regarding diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic skills and interventions.

  3. Apply effective, proactive professional values, attitudes, and behaviors.

  4. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and professional communication with site supervisor, practicum faculty, and peers.

  5. Identify gaps in knowledge and abilities and work to build expected profession-wide competencies.

  6. Demonstrate self-awareness and practice cultural humility with clients and colleagues.

  7. Articulate importance of, and plan for, ongoing supervision and consultation throughout professional practice.
